Sorry about this, but I've fallen into a slight pit of depression. After I figure how to climb back out, regular service will be resumed.
Kind regards, Kitty
Don't despair. Think of all the good things in your life - your lovely little ones, your fantastic success at bringing back your health and the inspiration you give others to keep trying with the weight loss.
I am one of those annoying people who never seem to get down about anything. I'm the first to admit that I must be hell to live with as I'm always smiling.
Friends in the real world and in the ethereal place that is the web are a shoulder to lean on when your down so use us all.
Thank you, Pip. I DO know I have much to be thankful for, yes. I count my blessings every day and I am grateful for even being alive, believe me.
I appreciate your remarks and your friendly shoulder, it's sweet. I'll get out of my funk soon, I've just had a lot to dig out from and my shovel is far too small. :)
GaynorB: I've been having 'issues' with Blogger off and on for weeks. That combined with France Telecom/Orange and internet being happy chappy when it's raining but temperamental as a three year-old on a sugar high when sunny. Weird. So, as the weather has been brilliantly beautiful, regardless my level of hankering to post, or no, I could not.
I am grateful for my health returning. I am blessed to have my children here with me. I appreciate people, such as yourself, reaching out and giving me a virtual pat on the back and 'atta girl!'... it helps, it really does.
I'll keep moving forward, no matter how slow the progress. I just have to remember we are all human, we all make mistakes; how we deal with the aftermath is the important bit.
Deborah: Thank you. I'm in the dumps because, on the one hand, my health hasn't been this good in years. But on the other, I'm back to having issues walking. I had x-rays on Thursday, it showed the bone spurs on the bottom of my feet, which had disappeared in 1996/7, have returned. By the look of them, I could get a job as a fighting cock. (Rather appropriate since I'm a Fire Rooster in the Chinese Horoscope.) I wonder what the ROME reference is for that? Must check with ANPE. :)
But on the other other hand, I found my sense of humour hidden in the sofa cushions. A bit dusty and creased but still perfectly serviceable. I'll try to keep it closer to hand from now on.
I may take you up on the e-mail. I think we share a few life experiences in common. If so, you know what it's like to be where I am, right now. I could use a different vantage point...
Hi, I have just found your blog through Total France. I have been reading about the Durkan diet and after being very sceptical about it, I have decided to try it. I would welcome any hints and tips you can give me and I will read your older posts to see where you started etc. I am most concerned about breakfasts, I have been eating peanut butter on rice cakes for months - hence the need to do something - I think I am addicted to my homemade peanut butter - so any ideas you have for breakfast would be good. They have to be something I can take to work with me as I don't have time to eat at home. Hope to hear from you
I have just caught up on your blogs this year and you have definitely persuaded me to have a go. I will order the book and get ready to start this week. Sue
Sue: Brilliant! And welcome to my Blog! Please don't take my recent failings to be at all connected with the Dukan regime. (Also, by the way, you can order the English language Dukan book on Amazon France with free delivery!)
I ran out of money this month (due to the phone company surprising me with a direct debit four times what it is normally.) My girls come first when I cook, my regime can take a back burner for the time being. But without a credit card, cheque book or any kind of savings, I take out 'X' amount from my bank for food for the month and when that's gone, it's gone. Sadly the phone company got there before I did. So, I have to eat what I have on hand. No, the Cognac and Chocolate chip cookies were not a 'necessity', but, that helped my awful mood at the time.
I've been musing on what to suggest for breakfast. Obviously peanut butter and rice cakes are right out (sorry), do you prefer sweet or savoury in the morning? I found a brilliant recipe for savoury Dukan 'muffins' from another site, I'll chase down the link and post it later!
Best of luck with this and consider starting your OWN Blog to keep track, it's extremely helpful!
"This guy's walking down the street when he falls in a hole. The walls are so steep he can't get out. "A doctor passes by and the guy shouts up, 'Hey you. Can you help me out?' The doctor writes a prescription, throws it down in the hole and moves on. "Then a priest comes along and the guy shouts up, 'Father, I'm down in this hole can you help me out?' The priest writes out a prayer, throws it down in the hole and moves on "Then a friend walks by, 'Hey, Joe, it's me can you help me out?' And the friend jumps in the hole. The guy says, 'Are you stupid? Now we're both down here.' The friend says, 'Yeah, but I've been down here before and I know the way out.'"
Anyways-- hope you're okay. Life is miserable and hard. But it's also and terrific.
And it's like Bill Hicks used to say: "it's just a ride."
Take some time off, but remember to get back on the ride; it's a big thrill.
I just wrote a big comment, and it disappeared.. I am now writing another comment, to see if you are one of those people who moderates them first, and then I'll realise it's a possibility it's just not appeared.... yet.
The Kid in the Front Row: It's always easier to get out of any situation when you have someone around with which you can bounce ideas around, ask for and receive support and, as you point out, help you out of a hole they've been in before.
I've never seen 'The West Wing' but I have heard it recommended as a good series. I am one of those Plebeians who, even though they grew up in and around Tinseltown, never much watches TV or films. I think I own a total of fifteen DVDs and ten of those are from the Disney or Pixel enterprises.
Thank you for commenting. It's true, life IS hard, but, it's also far better than the alternative. I'm back in the saddle again, refreshed, renewed and mostly on track!
Kind regards, Kitty
(PS: Yes, I DO comment moderate because of certain silly cretins with nought else to do but be wankers.)
Wow, quite a story... Thanks for following me and I've added you to my list as well. My suggestion is that you do read this blog and follow Celia: http://bit.ly/iRnsjS She is such an inspiration to so many! Her latest blog is yet another tragedy revealed to us: http://bit.ly/iBw3Bc Wishing you lots of strength and you have to believe in yourself; you can do it!!!
Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, raised in Southern California, I spent most of my life various places in the States: Palm Desert, San Diego, college in Missouri, Albuquerque (for a marriage, son and divorce) and lastly, Montpelier, Vermont. After 8 years in Cheshire, UK (to pick up another marriage, two fabulous little girls, another divorce and my moniker) my girls and I moved to France. Hilarity ensues for five years. I now live with my two young children in this delightful area of France known as Côtes-d'Armor (Ar Mor is 'The Sea' in Breton, the local language.)
I am currently trying to find premises, and the cash, to open a Tea Salon and café. It's been an exercise, so far, in 12 flavours of patience and persistence.
You see, if you take an outspoken expat American Mother, mix with the ostentatiously turgid French Administration, you'll get a sort of vinaigrette; just one you'd never willingly choose to consume.

Hi Kitty,
I thought I'd left a comment on this post before, but it has probably got lost in the ether.
Just to say that I am thinking of you, and look forward to you making that climb! Pip has some wise words................
Very best wishes

Kitty,
I am trying to leave a comment buy they are getting lost each time I post. I'll try once more!

Oh Kitty, I'm sorry you're in the dumps. Hope you've got a set of sympathetic ears to talk to - if not consider an email here.
